Abstract

Hear from leading CyLab faculty members on the synthesis of the CyLab Robotics Security and Privacy Workshop and key research directions for CyLab’s most ambitious research initiative to date.

The proliferation of robotic systems from controlled environments to real-world applications in homes, factories, and critical infrastructure has created an urgent need for a holistic, system-wide approach to security and privacy. The CyLab Robotics Security and Privacy Workshop brought together experts to define foundational challenges and outline a path forward for building a trustworthy robotics ecosystem that is secure by design. The discussions highlighted that securing robotics requires moving beyond a focus on individual components and addressing the unique complexities of this domain, including the interplay of hardware, software, AI, and human factors.

The organizers of the CyLab Robotics Security and Privacy Workshop have also summarized the workshop's findings in a technical report, Towards a Safe, Secure, and Privacy-Preserving Robotics Ecosystem.
