Grey Project: device-enabled authorization

Researcher: Lujo Bauer

Research Area: Mobility | Secure Home Computing

Cross Cutting Thrusts: Usable Privacy and Security

Scope: The Grey Project is an ongoing effort to develop practical, usable access control systems. It builds from a sound formal foundation of access control logic and puts access control decisions firmly in the hands of end-users by on-the-fly policy modification by Grey-enabled smartphones.

Outcomes: Demonstrate the feasibility of Grey and gaining experience with end-users via prototype deployment; develop novel user interface technologies for authoring access control policies; develop more expressive access control logic.
