Researcher: Marios Savvides
Research Area: Security of Cyber-Physical Systems
Scope: Sponsored by SANDIA Labs, the aim of this project is to develop automatic facial tracking, eye tracking and iris segmentation and matching within a custom optical design system using liquid lenses that will be mounted within a rifle scope system. The challenges include the un-cooperative nature of face tracking and iris and how to automatically use the liquid lenses to auto-focus and match irises at a long-range distance.
Outcomes: Robust iris matching technology for the war fighter.
