Sixth Annual CyLab Corporate Partners Conference Highlights Vital Research and Urgent Issues
The sixth annual Carnegie Mellon CyLab Corporate Partners Conference brings together executives, security professionals and leading technologists from industry, government and academia for three days of intense focus on the future of cyber security.
Held on the main campus of Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) from Wednesday, October 14 to Friday, October 16, the conference provides an opportunity for experts from CyLab’s partners in industry to immerse themselves in the latest developments in vital areas of ongoing research, including:
- Trusted Computing Platforms and Devices
- Usability of Security and Privacy Techniques
- Secure Home Computing
- Security of Cyber-Physical Systems
- Secure Mobile Systems and Networks
- Secure Software Engineering
- Digital Forensics
To supplement this focus on CyLab’s bold research program, prominent keynote speakers and panel participants from industry and government will provide insightful perspectives on various aspects of security policy and governance:
- Ex-White House aide Melissa Hathaway, who recently joined the Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University as a senior adviser to its cybersecurity initiatives, will discuss cybersecurity and privacy issues. Prior to joining Harvard, Hathaway was the National Security Council official who led President Obama's 60-day review of federal cybersecurity policies and processes.
- Gary McGraw, CTO of Citigal, Inc., will speak on “The Building Security In Maturity Model (BSIMM).” McGraw is a globally recognized authority on software security, a strategic counselor for top business and IT executives, as well as the author of six books (including his most recent, “Exploiting Online Games”).
In addition to these two compelling keynotes, Jody Westby of Global Cyber Risk, will chair a panel on "Governance of Privacy and Security by Boards and Senior Executives: State of Affairs.” Westby is also an Adjunct Distinguished Fellow at CyLab, and co-author of the CyLab Governance of Enterprise Security Survey. Westby will be joined by another expert in the field, Rena Mears, the Global and U.S. Privacy and Data Protection Market Leader at Deloitte & Touche LLP.
